Delta-5-E is the short abbreviation for the long chemical name 1,2,4,11,12,15,16-Septahydro-10, 13-dimethyl-3, 17-dimethoxycarboxy-cyclopenta[a]phenanthrene-7-one. In experimental animal studies, Delta-5-E has shown decreases in body fat without altering food intake, while simultaneously enhancing the immune system. It accomplishes this phenomenon by increasing thermogenic malic liver enzymes. TCA Cycle (AKA Krebs Cycle)

The TCA cycle is a complex sequence of biochemical reactions that is known to be responsible for how much fat is lost through the dissipation of acetyl-CoA. So essentially, without the precursor oxaloacetate available as a substrate, the TCA cycle slows down proportionally - prohibiting fat loss. Additionally to fueling the TCA cycle, Delta-5-E is documented to increase the uncoupling effect inside the mitochondria of fat cells.
